Emergency services

Emergency services in the island are:

  • States of Jersey Police
  • Jersey Ambulance Service
  • Jersey Fire and Rescue Service
  • Jersey Coastguard

You’ll need to dial 999 to access these services.

Dialling 999

If you have a medical emergency or you witness a serious accident or crime you should dial 999 or 112.

A trained member of staff will answer your call. You’ll be asked to describe what happened and your location. The operator will determine which emergency services you require, and they’ll dispatch the police, fire and rescue, coastguard or an ambulance as needed.

It’s important that you listen to what the operator tells you and that you try to remain calm.

Reporting non-emergency crimes

If you want to report a non-emergency crime, you must contact the police, either by:

  1. calling +44 (0) 1534 612612
  2. filling in an online form on the States of Jersey Police website
  3. visiting the police station

Non-emergency crimes can include:

  • vandalism
  • graffiti
  • stolen items such as mobile phones
  • anti-social behaviour incidents

Do not call 999 for minor crimes. This means that people in genuine emergencies are able to get help quicker.
